Usually, the Sextet will start the night off by playing a set of classic vocal standards, including tunes such as "Have You Met Miss Jones", "Straighten Up and Fly Right", "I Got Rhythm" and "Someone to Watch Over Me". With an extremely large repertoire to draw on, we can provide a whole evening of jazz, tailoring the style to suit the occasion.
If it's appropriate, we can liven things up later on by playing a set of soul and pop tunes made famous by artists such as Dusty Springfield, Stevie Wonder and Tom Jones. You can expect hit numbers including: "Son of a Preacher Man", "Take Another Little Piece of My Heart", "Superstition" and "You Can Leave Your Hat On".
Themed Events
War-time
We have provided music for several Second World War themed events, and have two whole sets of English and American war-time songs. These include iconic songs such as "The White Cliffs of Dover" and "We'll Meet Again" made famous by the "Sweetheart of the Forces", Vera Lynn, as well as the driving, jiving tunes brought over from the US by band leaders such as Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman. If you're after a war-time theme, we can all come dressed in uniform, and even bring some professional jive-dancers too!
Christmas
We have a large Christmas themed set available (tracks including "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas", "Let it Snow", "White Christmas" and "All I Want For Christmas is You") - perfect for the Christmas party. So crack out the misteltoe and mulled wine and get ready to blow those winter blues away!
If your function is a big one, we also have an 11-piece funk / soul / pop band available.
The Big Little Band features both male and female singers, a 5-piece brass section, (2 trumpets, trombone, 2 saxophones) as well as a top class rhythm section - giving us one of the fattest sounds in the North-West!
Particularly appropriate for balls and larger functions, this bigger band is sure to blow you away and keep you dancing all night.
